This month’s community social activity is: How to Read Dharma

For our February community social, let's discuss how to read dharma. Before the community social, please read the brief article "How to Read Dharma," by Judy Lief, from Lion's Roar at this link: https://www.lionsroar.com/how-to-read-dharma/ Starting with that information, we will then discuss our own individual ways of reading dharma. There will be snacks and a tea tasting, also! Please feel free to arrive and leave whenever you need to during the community social.

The Shambhala Center holds a community social from 3:00 to 5:00pm as part of our monthly Community Day on the first Saturday of every month. The social is an opportunity for mindful enjoyment of an activity in the company of fellow community members.

The community social activity will vary each month, and may include teaching and practice in a contemplative art form, museum outings, book discussions, mindful writing practice, knitting/crocheting circles, film viewing, cooking lessons, or contemplative discussions of topics of interest.

Families and children are welcome to join the community social. No childcare will be provided, but craft materials will be available in the community room to keep children’s hands and minds mindfully occupied.

Please register to help us plan. Donations are warmly encouraged.

Join us the first Saturday of every month for any or all of our monthly Community Day!

    Community Day events include:

    • Public Sitting, 9:00 am – Noon
    • Community Shambhala Sadhana Practice, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
    • Community Social, 3:00 – 5:00 pm

In 2019, we’re introducing a Community Day on the first Saturday of each month as an opportunity to practice and socialize together. In the morning, practice shamatha meditation together between 9:00 am and noon. After a break for self-organized lunch in the neighborhood, join us at 1:00 pm for a community practice of the Shambhala Sadhana. From 3:00 to 5:00 pm we’ll hold a community social with mindful enjoyment of an activity in the company of fellow community members.

Check our programs and events page or our monthly calendar for information on the community social activity for upcoming months.
