You are invited to collaborate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders to generate ideas for the future of the D.C. Shambhala Center. During this time of flux, we need to envision a path for a thriving future.

Our center’s Emerging Future Team is holding four sequential sessions. Each session will be conducted by an outside facilitator and will involve activities that build on the previous session. We will be using innovative group processes that focus on listening to one another and co-creating our future, as well as using our meditation background to help us. The goal will be to move forward and test ideas that will shape the future of the D.C. Shambhala Center.

We invite you to commit to all four sessions. However, if you do not feel ready to do so, please come to the first one. If you feel the energy rise, you can decide to attend the next one and recommit at the time of each session.

We will also offer a Zoom session on a different date and time that will duplicate the same process and content for those who cannot attend the first two in-person sessions.

The four sessions at the D.C. Shambhala Center will address these questions:

    Session 1: Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Starting with purpose and values:

We will discuss what is the purpose of the Center, and why does it exist? What are the core values of the Center?  What would a thriving Center look like? This session is only open to Members and Former Members of the DC Shambhala Center.

If you are unable to attend in person, please register for the Zoom session here.

Session 2: Sunday, January 26, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Who are the key stakeholders of this Center? Whom do we serve? This session is only open to Members and Former Members of the DC Shambhala Center.

If you are unable to attend in person, please register for the Zoom session here.

Session 3: Sunday, February 2, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. We will be practicing with some cutting-edge future-oriented processes in preparation for Session 4. This session must be done in person due to the nature of the exercises.

Session 4: Sunday, February 9, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. We will create a map of stakeholders, understand the current reality and then generate a picture of the future reality. From this picture, we will begin to generate ideas we want to move forward to test. This session must be done in person due to the nature of the exercises.

This process is undertaken with the support of the Admin Team.
