On the occasion of the presidential inauguration weekend (Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21) during what might feel like a chaotic, upsetting, and emotionally charged time, the Shambhala community of Washington, DC will open its doors to the general public for free meditation practice and Introduction to Meditation classes for anyone looking for rest, calm, and sanity. Whatever your political views, concerns, or reactions; whether you are protesting this weekend or not; you are warmly welcomed to join us throughout these days and explore mindfulness meditation: a practice of deeply grounding ourselves in the present moment, in our bodies, and in the radical acceptance of our basic goodness, brilliance, wisdom, and compassion. Drop-ins welcome; meditation instruction for beginners will be offered at 10 am, 1:30 pm, and 3 pm both days.
