Join us in celebrating the Winter Solstice!

Children's DayOur Shambhala community has a tradition of celebrating the changes of season. These special days of celebration are called nyida days—from nyima ("sun") and dawa ("moon"). Nyida days occur on or near the days of the spring and autumn equinoxes and the summer and winter solstices.

At a time when darkness is prevalent, we will come together and celebrate our children, our families, our community and remind ourselves of the warmth, heart, and cheerfulness of our basic goodness..

Please bring a potluck dish to share. Sign up for the potluck here.

    What to Bring

Please bring a new, unwrapped gift to donate to a charity for children and families in need. This year we'll be donating these items to the D.C. Coalition for the Homeless.

    What to Wear

    Uplifted festive dress is appreciated.

This event is free to all. But please register so we'll know how many people to expect.

Of course, donations to cover expenses are always greatly appreciated.
