The primary focus of the second cycle of the Buddha’s teachings emphasized emptiness and compassion.

In this one-day offering, we'll explore the second stage of the Buddha’s teachings, commonly referred to as the "Mahayana" or “Great Path”. Together we'll survey the principal teachings, using references to the sutras (original written form of the oral teachings of the Buddha), discussion, analytical meditation, and contemplation practice. We’ll also draw on a variety of commentaries by various teachers to cover this material.

Topics to be covered include:
Absolute & Relative Bodhicitta and Compassion
The Six Paramitas
Emptiness & Analytical Meditation
Schools of Buddhist Philosophy
including: Sautrantrika, Cittamatra, and Madhyamaka (Svatantrika and Prasangika)

Who is this for? Anyone who is curious and interested in Buddhist teaching and philosophy! Shambhala teachers and senior students are also encouraged to attend and share their knowledge and experience with these teachings.
